LO 25th Statutory Congress

Under the theme “Worth struggling for”, the 300 delegates from the 16 LO national unions and their organisations at local level will decide on the organisation’s most important issues as well as structure and objectives for the next four years. Congress also includes the 125 delegates of the LO General Council and the 15 members of the LO Executive Council.

Congress is to make decisions on the Congress report “Member 2000” as well as a report on the organisation’s structure. Furthermore, Congress will discuss the proposal of the LO Executive Council for guidelines called “Trade union strategies for better conditions in the labour market”.

The importance of being a trade union member runs all through the Congress and is emphasized in the 351 motions that Congress has to discuss.

The structural changes which have taken place within the LO national unions in recent years with amalgamations and decreasing number of members have placed the organisational issues in focus and demands for a review of the LO organisation at local and regional levels are raised .

Congress is the highest decision-making body of LO. Congress is to devote particular attention to establishing guidelines for the future work of the organisation.
