The Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO) Congress has elected Susanna Gideonsson as the new LO President. Together with the other members of the newly elected leadership she will lead LO for the next four years.

- I am extremely happy to have been entrusted with leading LO. We have major challenges ahead of us, including putting an end to insecure employment and ensuring that Sweden steers a more equal course after the corona virus. We must also ensure that workers’ voices are heard in the public debate. Here I believe my broad trade union background will come in handy,” says Susanna Gideonsson, LO President.

The other members of the new leadership are Torbjörn Johansson, Negotiations Secretary (re-election), Therese Guovelin, First Vice President (re-election), and Lisa Bengtsson, Second Vice President (new election).

- I feel honoured to now be part of LO’s leadership. For 15 years I have put all my effort into organisation and I am now looking forward to continuing this within LO. We must reach out to all those who do not yet know the value of trade union membership. This is how we become an even stronger trade union movement, says Lisa Bengtsson, LO’s Second Vice President.
