Mr. Ulf Edström, the Head of the International Department of LO-Sweden and member of the ILO Governing Body, stated in his congratulations to the re-election of Mr. Juan Somavia, that Mr. Somavia makes a difference and de facto had established the Decent Work Agenda politically at global level.
As a representative of Workers, Mr. Edström stated that they trusted, with the re-election of Mr. Somavia as the Director-General of the ILO, that the ILOs standard-setting activities - being the cornerstone of the work of the ILO and the point of reference to which workers of the world legitimally can claim "decent work" - that the standards strategy will be promoted in a coherent manner by the ILO and its constituents, thereby realizing Decent Work in practice and with full respect of the principles of freedom of association. In conclusion he gave Mr. Somavia the full support of the workers.
