LO President Wanja Lundby-Wedin today sent a letter to the American Embassy in Stockholm urging the US, the richest democracy in the world, to join other democratic states and respect the fundamental human rights in working life. The right to set up and join trade unions and the right to negotiate about collective agreements and other working conditions are basic to a fair and just system of labour market relations. The LO urges, in the letter, the embassy to call the Government’s attention to the fact that trade unions all over the world, including LO, unreservedly back the American workers’ rights at work, which could be a reality if the proposed bill on Employee Free Choice be passed.
